Originally from Italy Rome, Cecilia moved to Hamilton in February 2016 as a math lecturer at the University of Waikato and busted onto the NZ ultra scene with her win at the Taupo 100km.

"I started running mid 2014 while living in Canada. My introduction to running was two weeks of training and then a half marathon.....I got hooked :) After that I did a 10 km race then went straight into my first ultra, the North Face Endurance Challenge 50 miles in Ontario, placing third female."

"After that I  moved here to New Zealand, where I won some shorter races: the Kauri classic and the Double Rainbow and managed to get the course record for my leg at the New Zealand road relay champions in Rotorua. Then went back to ultras and won my first 100km race in Taupo. :)"

"I still haven't raced a marathon yet...."

Favourite Shoes: ALTRA Lone Peaks 3.0 - Great grip on pretty much any terrain including running in snow.  Very comfortable to run big miles on them and no sore feet :)
